The range achieved from the live fire exercise and any targets hit were not disclosed, but Rheinmetall company literature states that GMARS can aid “fire support missions up to a range of 400+ km.”

Key to the collaboration is a plan for Reliance to establish a “greenfield manufacturing facility” based in the Watad Industrial Area of Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India.
The renewed industrial co-operation follows a MoU signed in June 2024 to collaborate on rocket artillery and laser weapon systems, simulation and training for land vehicles and rotorcraft, alongside short-range air defense capabilities.

Under the new plan, the service could potentially begin fielding a mix of self-propelled howitzers in 2030, according to Maj. Gen. Glenn Dean.

"The collaboration includes dedicated satellite capacity and constellation access, which allows the capacity of the entire ICEYE satellite fleet to be utilized," according to a Rheinmetall press release.
"So I think we could, with some additional investment, we could significantly increase our output, and we could do more to support the combined allied effort. ... I think Australia could lean forward more and actually support the Allied effort, including the US and its preparations in the Indo-Pacific region," NIOA CEO Rob Nioa said.
The cooperation agreement builds off steps taken by both parties in September 2023 to set “prerequisites” for the development of a “first laser weapon” including a commitment to make “internal preparations” for the new platform’s development phase.
The "framework agreement" is the latest in a recent series of ammo-related international moves by the German defense giant.
